SmartSports Board Member Named Chief Commercial Officer
Paula E. Payton Joins Staff of Sports Technology Company
Boston, MA, November 6, 2014 — SmartSports today announced that board member, Paula E. Payton, has been named Chief Commercial Officer. In her new capacity she will report to SmartSports co-founder and CEO, Corrine Vitolo.
In this role, Ms. Payton will be responsible for leading strategy, corporate positioning, brand innovation and insight activities for SmartKage.
“Paula has been a long-standing Board member, who brings with her a wealth of expertise in developing and managing strategic programs for iconic brands and executing integrated, insight-led marketing and communications campaigns,” said Vitolo. “She will be a valuable contributor to SmartSports in areas such as consumer insight, commercial marketing and digital innovation. She will play an integral role in the current nationwide launch of SmartKage.”
Ms. Payton most recently served as a Director at New York University’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies, where she had oversight for their flagship graduate degrees and professional certificates in the division of business programs. At NYU, she developed innovative programming in areas such as storytelling, digital marketing, and analytics, as well as running an academic department comprised of nearly 400 faculty members from leading companies in marketing, public relations / corporate communications, and media.
Prior, she developed and managed customer-specific marketing programs for consumer goods and retail clients, with responsibilities including strategy, shopper marketing, corporate sponsorships, and stewardship, media and agency relations. Trained as a cognitive psychologist, Paula is expert in using consumer insight to help clients build brands and customer experiences profitably.She has been educated at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, University of Chicago and University of Vermont.
The Company recently begin a national launch of its SmartKage baseball technology. The first of 40 units of a scheduled 160 unit nationwide launch are currently being installed at locations in Arizona, California, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
